WHAT IS A TABLET COMPUTER ?


A tablet PC is a wireless, portable personal computer with a touch screen interface. The tablet form factor is typically smaller than a laptop computer but larger than a smartphone. The most well known being Apples iPad . They range in size from roughly the size of  the A5 exercise books used by grade ones to the size and thickness of a Glamour magazine(for the ladies). The front of the "book" would entirely covered by a huge display screen which can be used to view content and enter data at the same instance

WHAT CAN IT BE USED FOR?


They are  used to view content such as videos , pdf documents and eBooks.They can also be used to create and view office documents like excel and word documents. Their application is made boundless by the use of Apps , turning them into everything from an Atlas to an internet browser.Their functionality is expanded by using Apps . Apps are small programs similar to software programs you install in an ordinary computer.                                                                                                                                                                                       

ADVANTAGES OF TABLETS
-Suitable for places were keyboards and mice are not practical i.e. lying in bed reading, standing or one handed use.
-Lightweight most weigh from 0.5kg to 1.5 kg .Size makes it convenient to carry in everything from a brief case or satchel and in some cases a ladies  purse
-Touch input can feel more natural to use (intuitive)
-Long battery life typically 6 to 10 hours. Which is longer than most laptops .  


DISADVANTAGES OF TABLET COMPUTERS

-High price as compared to conventional laptops
-Typing on  an onscreen keyboard is slow
-Not free standing , usually lies flat on a surface. Designed to be held in ones hand
-Typing on  an onscreen keyboard is slow
